A Caring Hand, The Billy Esposito Foundation (ACH) held its seventh annual fundraising gala, Handing Our Children A Brighter Future, on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Altman Building in Manhattan. Funds raised through the gala will be used to support programs at A Caring Hand, The Billy Esposito Bereavement Center and provide educational scholarships to children who may have otherwise lost the opportunity to pay tuition with the passing of a parent.
Thank you for joining us for an exciting evening of fine samplings from restaurants and spirit companies in New York City, great music, a silent auction, and an elaborate sweepstakes. Guests felt like kids again by participating in carnival-themed activities and letting their cares run free, all the while raising funds to support the only free-standing, comprehensive Bereavement Center in New York City.
In a special awards presentation, ACH honored
Henry Buhl, Founder of the
Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless, with the
Philanthropic Achievement Award, along with
Mary M. McCambridge, Founder and President of the
Foundation for Grieving Children, Inc., with the
Healing Hand Award. ACH was also proud to present 2009
Courage Awards to several individuals in recognition of their bravery and perseverance in the face of a loss:
Randolph K. Adler, Jr., Angela Bruzina, Tanya M. Gideonse-Wright, Meredith Golding, Barbara Jackman, Robert Jackman, Erin Jackman, Ross Jackman, Jennifer Nyp, and
Lyndsey A. Osorio. Ken Grosso served as the Master of Ceremonies and Live Auctioneer for the evening.
